Her shoplifting spree spanned three years in the UK.

Jayne Rand, 48, has been sentenced by a court in the UK to prison for 18 months for stealing 905 designer bags from a series of department stores, reports BBC[1] .

The estimated combined value of the goods stolen is about £135,000 and includes handbags from the likes of Mulberry, Prada[2] , Gucci[3] , Louis Vuitton[4] , Dior[5] and Burberry[6] . Rand made a profit of £88,000 from selling off some of the shoplifted bags via channels such as eBay.

The perpetrator told police she needed the money to fund her lifestyle.

The judge remarked: “I have not seen such a case before. You travelled significant distances to steal from up and down the country and target high value bags.”

“Her usual method of theft was to go into the store without a bag, pick up one from the display, walk around with it on her shoulder for a while, then simply walk out of the store,” said the prosecutor. “Sometimes she would have to remove the security tag, but usually she wouldn't have to.”

She was eventually caught red handed by security staff at a shopping centre in Wales.
