Ghurka[3] , purveyor of luxe leather bags and wallets, opened a travel-lover's mecca in Union Square early last month. The store is the brand's third, and it's the only one located outside of NYC. But the opening is more homecoming than initiation—founder Marley Hodgson operated[4] a bustling Ghurka boutique at 170 Post in the 80's and 90's before it closed in the early 2000's. Reopening just one block west of the original location, the 1,100-square-foot space features carefully crafted carriers (most handmade in Norwalk, Connecticut) sure to inspire travels both near and far (or just make the commute to work more pleasant).

Be sure to visit, if only to check out the original Art Nouveau bakery display case[5] , which dates back to the turn-of-the-century. But beware that window-shoppin intentions may be all for naught when you hold this gorgeous duffel[6] in your arms or feel the buttery leather of this dopp kit[7] (the perfect gift for a special man). And bonus: now until January 5, take 20% off all sale items in the store.
