Right about now is the time that I get super creative with winter dressing[1] . That means mixing and matching prints[2] , layering various pieces[3] , and trying to bring as much fun to cold-weather dressing as possible. One way to do it? Wear sequins as much as possible. In search of some outfit ideas inspiration, I looked to some of my favorite fashion bloggers.
Wear them with plaid: Christine of The View From 5 ft 2[4] paired a black sequin pencil skirt with a very Christmasy tartan plaid shirt. Liz, founder of Sequins & Stripes[5] , went a similar route. The trick here is to choose a plaid that has at least one color that picks up on the color of the skirt.
Wear them with camo: Downplay the inherent girly vibe of sequins by pairing them with a traditional army print. Jessica of Bows & Sequins[6] added wedge sneakers and a chunky-knit sweater to complete the perfect brunch look.
Wear them with other metallics: You may think that pairing gold sequins with a gold belt would result in sparkle overload, but take a look at Lucy of Lucy Laucht[7] . She grounds the gold hues by topping things off with a silk beige shirt and brown leather bag.
With leopard print: Treat sequin leggings like any ol' pair of skinny jeans or leather leggings and pair them with our new favorite neutral, leopard print. Biker boots similar to Karen's of Where Did U Get That[8] anchor the outfit.
Wear them with tribal knits: Much like wearing them with camo, I love the idea of juxtaposing sequins with their complete opposite, in this case, super-chunky knits. Helena of Brooklyn Blonde[9] chose to style hers with a cozy cape, but this look would also work with a Fair Isle sweater[10] .
What do you think of these outfit ideas? Have you tried any of these combinations?
