Failure to Stop and Give Information – Accident Involving Damage to Vehicle

Dec. 6 (8:23 a.m.) An officer was dispatched to a hit and run accident at the intersection of Wilderness Trails and Greenbriar Drive. The caller told police that his vehicle was hit by a gray Toyota sport utility vehicle. The SUV did not stop. It continued driving on Greenbriar towards Falling Leaf. The driver of the vehicle was described as an elderly white female with gray hair. During the accident investigation, the officer determined that the reporting person had failed to control his speed, hydroplaned on the wet concrete and then went into the ditch. The gray Toyota SUV was never found.

Dec. 6 (4:14 p.m.) An officer was called to investigate a minor accident in the 3600 block of FM 528. A maroon truck struck the rear of a vehicle causing a chain-reaction accident. The maroon truck left the scene of the accident without providing information.


Dec. 11 (4:58 p.m.) A warrant will soon be issued for a 19-year old Friendswood man involved in a hit and run accident in the 100 block of W. Parkwood Avenue. The suspect was driving a silver BMW and pulled out from a business driveway hitting another vehicle. The driver told the victim not to call the police. He was described as a white male, with brown hair, approximately 18 or 19 years old. The victim told police that the suspect told her that he had just left work, so officers went to nearby businesses and were able to determine the driver’s identity. Officers relocated to the suspect’s residence in the 2800 block of Creek Bend Drive. However, the suspect refused to come out of the house and the suspect’s parents refused to cooperate with police.


Burglary

Dec. 6 (9:55 a.m.) A Sirius radio was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 16900 block of Blackhawk Blvd sometime overnight.


Dec. 10 (11:05 a.m.) A vehicle was burglarized at the Friendswood Post Office located at 310 Morningside Drive. The victim arrived at the post office at approximately 11:05 a.m. She took one credit card out of her wallet and placed her purse in the floorboard. When the vehicle returned to her vehicle approximately 15 minutes later she found that her purse was stolen. Within two hours of the theft, the suspects had already charged more than $1,300 to the victim’s Macys credit card.


Dec. 14 (5:39 a.m.) Alcohol was taken from an unlocked garage in the 1100 block of Tipperary sometime overnight. No other items were taken from the garage.


Theft

Dec. 7 (6:44 p.m.) Sometime around December 2, the front license plate was stolen off of a vehicle at the Skyhawk Apartments located at 17231 Blackhawk Blvd.


Dec. 9 (4:30 p.m.) Money was stolen out of a purse left unattended in a Coach’s office at the old Friendswood Junior High located at 402 Laurel. The theft occurred sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on December 9. Lacrosse players were working out in the weight room and several other high school groups were on campus at the time of the theft. It was not until the next day, that $400 was discovered missing from the purse.


Fraud

Dec. 11 (7:32 a.m.) A resident in the 1100 block of Eagle Lakes Drive noticed several emails where various amounts were transferred to his ex-girlfriend via his PayPal account without his permission. He also discovered that he was locked out of his PayPal account and his email account. The case is under investigation.


Dec. 12 (7:48 p.m.) A resident in the 2000 block of Schulte Lane received an email about a possible fraudulent charge on his credit card. He confirmed the fraudulent activity and noticed three other fraudulent charges on his credit card.


Domestic Violence

Dec. 8 (9:32 p.m.) A 31-year-old Friendswood man was charged with Interfering with City Officer in the 1100 block of W. Castlewood Drive. Officers responded to a disturbance between the man and his girlfriend. When officers arrived, he was intoxicated and would not stop yelling at his girlfriend. When officers entered the residence, he refused to stand up and to make his hands visible. He was detained inside the home and escorted outside because the homeowner no longer wanted him there. Once outside, he refused to talk; instead, made “kissing” noises when questioned. He was then taken into custody.


Dec. 12 (10:49 p.m.) Officers were dispatched to a past disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of E. Castle Harbour Drive. The suspect had left the residence approximately 20 minutes before officers arrived. The victim told police that her boyfriend assaulted her and that this was not the first time. He allegedly grabbed her by the throat, picked her up off the ground and threw her on the bed. He then continued to assault her. Charges of Assault Causing Bodily Injury were accepted and a warrant will be issued for the suspect’s arrest.


Dec. 15 (6:09 p.m.) A 30-year-old Friendswood man and 18-year-old Houston woman are charged with Assault by Contact-Family Violence. Officers were dispatched to a disturbance at the Skyhawk Apartments located at 17231 Blackhawk Blvd between two sisters. When officers arrived, the woman was crying and had several abrasions and cuts. He was taken into custody and a summons was issued to her.


Narcotics

Dec. 10 (4:54 p.m.) A 22-year-old South Houston man was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 (Methamphetamine). He was stopped for a traffic violation in the 3200 block of FM 528. As the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed that there were two small children in the back seat. Neither child was wearing a safety restraint or in a child safety seat. As one officer spoke with the man outside the vehicle, another officer noticed a shotgun in the floor board with one of the children standing on top of it. The man had a suspended driver’s license and was taken into custody. The officer searched the man’s pockets and found a brown leather container that held a glass vial containing methamphetamine. The children were released to the custody of their grandmother.


Dec. 12 (2:32 p.m.) A 19-year-old Friendswood man was charged with Possession of Inhalant Paraphernalia. He was stopped for a traffic violation in the 3600 block of Friendswood Link. While talking with him, the officer noticed several nitrous oxide cartridges in the driver’s floorboard. He exited the vehicle and told the officer that the cartridges were “whip its” left in the vehicle by a friend. The officer searched the vehicle and found 42 nitrous oxide cartridges, a black metal canister, also known as a “cracker”, which is used with the cartridges to inhale the nitrous oxide.


Dec. 13 (1:18 a.m.) A 36-year-old Houston man was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2A. He was stopped for running a red light in the 1600 block of Falcon Ridge Blvd. As he took off from the red light, he accelerated rapidly. When the officer tried to stop the vehicle, he did not immediately stop. During a search of the man’s vehicle, the officer found four bags of synthetic marijuana and a pipe. His bond was set at $1,000.


Driving While Intoxicated

Dec. 7 (1:56 p.m.) A 29-year-old Friendswood man was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. An officer was dispatched to attempt to locate an intoxicated driver. A witness reported a gray 2-door car that struck the barricade twice while traveling in the 200 block of E. Edgewood. The officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The man was in the vehicle alone. He exhibited signs of intoxication and his vehicle had fresh damage to both sides of the vehicle. While talking with the man, the officer detected the smell of alcohol on his breath. He failed a field sobriety test and refused a breath test. A search warrant to obtain a specimen of blood was approved and he was taken to a local hospital for the blood draw. His bond was set at $1,000.


Dec. 8 (12:40 a.m.) A 37-year-old Houston woman was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Evading Arrest. An officer attempted to stop her for a traffic violation in the 4000 block of FM 2351. The officer turned on his lights and siren, but she refused to stop. At one point, the vehicle stopped for a red light at FM 2351 and Interstate 45, but as the officer exited his patrol car to approach the vehicle, she took off and drove south on the Interstate 45 feeder road. She did not stop until she reached a shopping complex on El Dorado and Interstate 45. Once she was stopped, the officer ordered her to exit the vehicle. As she exited the vehicle, she was unsteady on her feet and appeared to be impaired. She was immediately taken into custody. At the jail, she failed a field sobriety test and registered .210 on a breath test. Her bond was set at $6,000.


Dec. 10 (1:44 a.m.) A 51-year-old Santa Fe woman was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Harvey was observed speeding in the 1600 block of W. Parkwood. As the officer paced behind her, he noticed that she crossed over the solid line. Once the officer approached the woman, he detected the smell of alcohol on her breath. She handed the officer her license and her credit card. She failed a field sobriety test and refused a breath test.


Dec. 12 (9:30 p.m.) A 23-year-old Friendswood woman was charged with Intoxication Assault. At approximately 9:30 p.m., an off-duty Houston police officer, with his wife and children, stopped to help a stranded motorist in the 4100 block of FM 2351. As the officer helped to push the stranded motorist out of the roadway, she hit the officer and the vehicle he was pushing. The officer suffered serious injuries, including a broken leg. After the accident, the woman stopped. She exhibited signs of intoxication, refused a breath test and was taken into custody for Intoxication Assault. A search warrant was issued for a specimen of her blood. Her bond was set at $5,000.


Dec. 15 (1:27 a.m.) A 30-year-old Friendswood man was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He was observed pulling out of a parking lot in the 3700 block of FM 528 squealing his tires. He cut off another vehicle that had to brake quickly to avoid a collision. When the officer contacted the man, she detected the strong smell of alcohol and the faint smell of marijuana. He failed a field sobriety test and registered .206 on a breath test. His bond was set at $1,500.


Public Intoxication

Dec. 10 (7:48 a.m.) A 25-year-old Friendswood man was charged with Public Intoxication. A resident in the 800 block of Stadium Circle called police when the man attempted to force his way into the residence. When the officer arrived, he found the man walking on Stadium Drive. He exhibited signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and unstable balance. He told the officer that he was delivering pizza and has been taking medication to stop his opiate addiction. He has prior arrests for drug offenses and public intoxication.


Dec. 14 (2:02 a.m.) A 45-year-old Webster man was charged with Public Intoxication in the 3100 block of FM 528. An officer was flagged down and told that there was a highly intoxicated male next to a maroon car in the parking lot. The officer approached the man and detected the strong smell of alcohol. He did not have a driver’s license and refused to do any field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody.


Found Property

Dec. 9 (2:47 p.m.) A customer at the Kroger store located at 151 N. Friendswood Drive turned over a handgun to store management. The gun was found inside a shopping cart in the Kroger parking lot. The handgun was turned over to police custody. The officer safely unloaded the gun, checked to see if it had been reported stolen and then stored it for safekeeping.


Dec. 11 (9:02 a.m.) Abandoned Christmas yard decorations were picked up from a ditch on Wilderness Pines. The items were taken to the police department for safekeeping.
