ORANGE -- A well-dressed man entered the Bedding Barn shortly before closing time Tuesday night, showed the clerk a gun and apologized for holding up the store.

The employee told police that the man entered about 9 a.m. and browsed through the Boston Post Road store for awhile.

The man then approached the clerk and stated "I hate to do this to you but I'm going to¦ this is a hold up," said Assistant Chief Anthony Cuozzo[1] . The suspect then opened a brown leather bag, showed the clerk a black pistol and placed the gun back in the bag, Cuozzo said.

The clerk turned over a small amount of cash and his personal laptop and the suspect fled. A police canine tracked him to the parking area behind the Sprint Store[2] at 125 Boston Post Road, the assistant chief said.

The suspect is black, between 50 and 60 years old and about 6 feet tall, police said. He was clean shaven and wearing a black suit with a white shirt and black tie.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Brian Petrucelli[3] at 203-891-2138.
