A group of young Nelsonians from the fashion and creative industries are collaborating to put on a fashion show.
The Cat's Table aims to show off the talent in Nelson, give people a good time and raise money for the Salvation Army during one of its busiest times.
Liberty Greig, of Nelson fashion boutique Trouble & Fox, said the group had been talking about working together on a creative project for a while.
"I'm quite passionate about us in Nelson as a small community being able to work together," she says.
They decided a short time ago to "bite the bullet" to put on the fashion fundraiser.
Trouble & Fox and Sidecar: the menswear store, run by Ms Greig's partner, Craig Fox, are teaming up with designer leather handbag maker Louise Leggat, of Kohl and Cochineal.
"We've all been talking between each other for ages," Ms Leggat says.
Ms Leggat designs her luxury handbags which are cut and handmade in the Victory Square area. They are sold nationally and she hopes to break into the international market in the near future.
Kohl and Cochineal will be presenting 20 of its handbags, including a sneak preview of some of its designs for next winter.
Trouble & Fox and Sidecar are showing some of their current range.
Julian Danger another Nelson fashion designer who is making a name for herself nationally will also feature a few of her clothes.
Nelson hairstylist Andrea Ranieri, of Zinc, and his team will be styling the 17 local models' hair. Other local makeup artists are contributing their skills.
The show is named The Cat's Table after a novel by Canadian author Michael Ondaatje. Ms Greig says they liked the theme of the story of coming of age against all odds.
It will be held at Nelson cafe Deville.
"We were really keen to do something at Deville as it is such a great location and a great space with that nice summer time outdoor garden vibe," Ms Greig says.
Gates open at 6pm, and the show starts at 6.45pm with a speech from Jill Knight from the Salvation Army.
To help raise funds for the Salvation Army appeal there will be a prize draw featuring goodies from everyone involved.
Tickets to the show next Thursday, December 12, are limited and are $15 for adults and $10 for students. They can be bought at Trouble & Fox and Sidecar and on line at troubleandfox.co.nz.
