SCOTTSDALE - Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a missing Scottsdale man.

Austin Gittens was reported missing around 4 a.m. Thursday from the Sancturary, an assisted living center near Scottsdale and Roosevelt Roads in Scottsdale, said Officer David Pubins of the Scottsdale Police Department.

Gittens was last seen around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Gittens is insulin dependent and received his last dose at 5 p.m. Wednesday. He was supposed to receive his next injection at 8 a.m. Staff said he should already be in a "weakened state," according to Pubins.

He was last seen wearing brown long pants, a brown leather jacket, numerous sweaters and a grey fedora.

Police said he may be carrying belongings in a plastic grocery bag. He also is believed to have his ID and cell phone, which was turned off, on him.

Any information about Gittens' whereabouts should contact the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000.
