Arlington Heights
A 35-year-old Hoffman Estates man who was a passenger in a vehicle stopped along Arlington Heights and Algonquin roads was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Nov. 19 and charged with a misdemeanor possession of cannabis. The driver was not charged.
A 23-year-old Waukegan man was arrested at 1:35 p.m. Nov. 19 and charged with felony retail theft, misdemeanor retail theft and resisting a peace officer. Police said he took three Michael Kors purses valued at $119 each, one Michael Kors purse valued at $179 and a pair of boy's black socks valued at $6.99, for a total value of $546, from Marshall's, 601 E. Palatine Road.
The bronze Bob Viti Volunteer Recognition Statue at Sunset Meadows Park, 700 S. Dwyer Ave., was stolen between 9 p.m. Nov. 11 and 2 p.m. Nov. 14. The statue, valued at $3,500, depicts a uniformed football player running with a football and is about 3 feet tall and weighs 100 pounds.
A black Apple iPhone 4/16G valued at $300 in a green case was reported stolen between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 13 from a purse of a customer shopping at several stores in downtown Arlington Heights.
A black marker and red spray paint were used Nov. 14 to draw graffiti and the words "Captain Jester" in all three stairwells at the Vail Avenue parking garage, 22 S. Vail Ave.
Twelve fence boards in a barricade around portable bathrooms at Centennial Park, 1301 E. Burr Oak, were reported broken Nov. 17. Damage is estimated at $200.
Scam alert: Residents are warned to hang up the phone and never provide credit card or banking information over the phone when receiving a call from a person claiming to work for Microsoft, Geek Squad or some other nationally recognized tech company and requesting information before eliminating a virus found on a computer. Buffalo Grove
A 29-year-old Schaumburg man was arrested at 1:40 p.m. Nov. 20 and charged with retail theft at an establishment in the 400 block of West Half Day Road.
A 40-year-old Wheeling woman was arrested at noon Nov. 20 and charged with driving while her license was suspended, driving without insurance and driving with tinted windows along the 300 block of Dundee Road.
A 33-year-old Prospect Heights man was arrested at 8:40 a.m. Nov. 19 and charged with driving while his license was suspended and failure to wear a seat belt while driving near Weiland and Lake Cook roads.
A 41-year-old Long Grove man was arrested at 4:55 p.m. Nov. 19 and charged in connection with a retail theft at an establishment in the 400 block of West Half Day Road.
A 25-year-old Buffalo Grove man was arrested at 9:48 a.m. Nov. 20 and charged with driving while his license was suspended, failure to secure a new registration and driving without insurance along Dundee and Weidner roads.
A resident in the 600 block of Thompson Boulevard reported eggs being thrown at his home between Nov. 15 and Nov. 16. Several eggs were thrown at his home sometime during the night.
Palatine
A 21-year-old Mount Prospect woman was arrested at 1:15 a.m. Nov. 17 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, operation of a vehicle with a suspended registration, driving with a valid license and improper lane usage on Dundee Road from west of Hicks Road.
The front door of a home in the 900 block of South Elm Street was reported pried open between 9:15 a.m. Nov. 10 and 8 p.m. Nov. 17. Numerous areas of the home were disrupted and ransacked.
A book bag containing textbooks and a checkbook was reported stolen Nov. 12 from an unlocked 2001 Jeep parked along the 900 block of West Panorama Drive.
A brown leather purse containing a wallet with $50 cash, credit cards and a driver's license was reported stolen between 7:30 a.m. and 8:25 a.m. Nov. 14 from a 2011 Jeep parked in the lot at the Buehler YMCA, 1400 E. Northwest Highway.
Windows on several vehicles were smashed while parked along the 1500 block of North Winslowe Drive between 4 p.m. Nov. 16 and 8:11 a.m. Nov. 17.
