Man Brandishes Gun On Sherman


A man brandished a gun in the 500 block of Sherman Avenue at 2:19 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, according to police.


Arrests: DUI, Retail Theft


John E. Ross, 46, of the 2300 block of Greenwood in Evanston, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 9:07 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the 900 block of Brown Avenue, according to police.


Alvin J. Velasquez, 19, of the 6000 block of North Damen Avenue in Chicago, was arrested and charged with retail theft at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, after he stole something from a department store in the 2200 block of Howard Street, police reported.


Burglar Steals Laptop From Bar


Someone stole a Toshiba laptop computer from a bar or tavern in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue between 6 and 6:20 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, according to police.


Thief Takes Checks From Church


Someone went into an unlocked area of a church in the 1400 block of Sherman Avenue and stole checks and a sweater from the Salvation Army between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, police reported.


Pickpocket Steals Cash On Maple


A man stole cash from someone at Maple Avenue and Davis Street between 9:05 and 9:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, according to police.


Wallets Stolen From Office, Park


A man stole a bifold leather wallet from the office at Evanston Hospital between 10:20 and 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, police reported.


A man stole a green Tumi leather wallet from a gym bag in a park in the 1600 block of Foster Street between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, according to police.


Car Windows Smashed On Grey


Someone smashed the windows of a 2001 Chevrolet parked in an alley in the 1400 block of Grey Avenue around 12:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, according to police.


Graffiti Appears on Kedzie


Graffiti appeared at Kedzie and Chicago Avenue at 3:33 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, according to police.
