Belts are a bit of a pain. They’re hard to adjust, and the technology hasn’t advanced since we decided ropes weren’t fashionable anymore. So, how can we bring the belt to the twenty-first century? With magnets!
Magnabelt
As you may have guessed, the Magnetic Belt uses, well, magnets to hold together. Not just any kind of magnet, though, super-strong magnets that won’t come apart with a light tug. Yes, years of human innovation and design has led to a moment where we stuff magnets in leather to hold our pants up. But that’s just the start of the belting shenanigans.
Buckling Down
First of all, in a nice touch, the belts are reversible. You can get them in either a black and tan combo, or brown and denim, although why you’d want a denim belt is a question of style best left to other blogs. Don’t worry, though, it’s faux leather, so no animals died to make you look good. You’ll just need to measure your hips and waist, depending on whether you plan to wear your pants up or try for the low-slung look, and slap the belt closed. And, if you desperately need a buckle for your belt, you can get a nice buckle to slap on there magnetically as well.
Buckle Up
This does leave us with a few questions, however, the first being why it’s such a good idea to have magnets that close to your crotch. Not that we’re concerned about the effects from magnetic fields on your various internal organs; that’s mostly pseudoscientific bunk. No, instead we’re wondering what this might do to the sensitive electronics you tuck in your pants. We’re sure ThinkGeek has thought about this one, but just in case, you might want to keep your phone in your bag for a while. The Magnetic Belt is available for $50 now.
