When it comes to updating your fall wardrobe, paying less for cheaper clothes and accessories may cost you more in the long run. Here are four fashion items worth splurging on.
In the footwear department, invest in a good pair of leather boots for daily use. Stick with comfortable heel heights and look for good cushioning so you can get plenty of wear out of them. Not only will they protect your feet, but they'll protect your budget, too.
Spending more on a high quality pair of boots allows you to simply resole the shoes to last you years. Cheap boots may look good for a few months after you buy them, but they likely won't last past the season and aren't worth the cost of getting them resoled.
Another must-have staple is the black blazer. This is an all-occasion piece that can be easily dressed up or down. You can use it as a jacket or part of a suit, and it's easy to accessorize for work, events or casual dates. Look for classic lines without too many trendy embellishments so it will stay in style for years to come.
For the same reasons, it's also wise to invest in a trench coat. The trench coat has been around for ages, and will always be on trend. Make sure you're getting the most for your money by choosing one made out of a high quality fabric. Test it by grab the fabric and squeezing for 20 seconds. If it looks like a crumpled lunch bag, it's not worth buying.
Finally, invest in a fine leather handbag. Inexpensive clutches and purses may look good now, but poor construction and cheap materials guarantee that they won't last long. A classic leather bag will hold up much longer, and will last year after year.
So, when it comes to updating your closet this fall, spend a little extra on long-lasting pieces. You'll be able to wear them for multiple seasons without wearing out your budget.
